Lagunas de Chacahua National Park protects a system of estuaries, mangroves, and beaches on the Oaxaca coast, a couple of hours from Puerto Escondido down a road that still feels remote. Reaching the village means crossing by boat from Zapotalito, gliding through mangrove channels where river crocodiles sun themselves on the banks, barely bothered by the tourists.

The lagoons — La Pastoría, Las Salinas, El Corral — shift color with the hour and the season, from emerald green to deep blue, and are part of an ecosystem where olive ridley sea turtles nest alongside hundreds of migratory bird species. On the open-ocean side, Chacahua's beach delivers a powerful swell, great for surfing without Zicatela's crowds.

The village, home to Afro-Mexican and Mixtec communities, lives off fishing and the kind of tourism that comes looking for exactly this: a place that's still hard to reach, without 24-hour electricity in many of its cabins, where the landscape still calls the shots over the infrastructure.

This magnet was made to remind you of that boat crossing through the mangroves. Scan it whenever you want to come back.
