Playa del Carmen went from a fishing village and crossing point to Cozumel to one of the most visited destinations on the Mexican Caribbean, without fully losing the relaxed feel that sets it apart from Cancún. Fifth Avenue, pedestrian-only and running parallel to the sea, is packed with restaurants, shops, and live music at any hour.

The sea here is part of something bigger: offshore runs the second-longest barrier reef in the world, and inland the ground is riddled with freshwater cenotes, some open for diving and others still hidden in the jungle. Along with Cozumel, it's one of the best diving spots in Mexico.

Its closeness to Tulum, Akumal, and the archaeological sites of the Riviera Maya turned Playa del Carmen into a base for exploring the whole region, while still being, at the end of the day, a place to simply sit facing the turquoise sea.

This magnet was made to remind you of that turquoise blue of the Mexican Caribbean. Scan it whenever you want to come back.
