Puebla was founded in 1531 on a valley chosen on purpose, without being built over a prior pre-Hispanic city — unusual among Mexico's colonial capitals. That origin shows in its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987: straight streets, blue-and-yellow talavera-tiled façades, and a cathedral with some of the tallest towers in the country.

The city is inseparable from its food. Mole poblano was born here, along with chiles en nogada, served every August and September with walnuts, pomegranate, and the colors of the flag. Walking through the Barrio del Artista or Calle de los Dulces, with its candied sweet potatoes and milk candies, is another way to get to know Puebla — through taste.

On the outskirts, the Great Pyramid of Cholula, buried under centuries of earth until it looks like just another hill, is the largest pyramid base in the world by volume, topped today by a colonial church crowning the mound.

This magnet was made to remind you of the tiles, the mole, and the cathedral towers. Scan it whenever you want to come back.
